The other day, while I was waiting for something else, I wrote a new flash piece, edited it, and sent it off to a publisher. I don’t write that short that often, but this one came surprisingly easy.
I just read a book (and I’m not into shaming authors, so I won’t) where the heroine had really serious reservations about the hero, and then, once one thing shifted, all the other reservations dropped, the characters hop into bed (did I mention she was a virgin?), and the reservations aren’t seen again until near […]
Seems I have lined myself up a wee ongoing writing gig. It may not be making a mint freelancing, but it’s something. As I expressed it at dinner, “Well, it’s 1/X of my unemployment income, and Congress can’t take it away from me.” Except by taxation. Now I just need to find the other (X-1)/X, […]
From the work-in-progress: “This is a zero-wetsuit job, hon. Before you ask, no one tied to surfboards either. This time.” “Literally or metaphorically?” I ask. “On the wetsuits, that is.” “Both.”
This is, in part, a reaction to Jackie Ashenden’s post of the same name. I really have enjoyed her books, so have a look. I get what Jackie says about writing what you love. I like a lower power difference between hero and heroine. I doubt I’d give a billionaire the time of day. (In […]
I’ve been spending a lot of time on several non-fiction projects. When I opened my novel up last night, I realized I hadn’t written on it since the 10th (at least, that was the last-changed date on the file). I’d kept writing some notes, though, so it’s not like I made no progress. Just very […]
Geez, I need five more of me to write all this stuff! I was in the ER tonight. Nothing bad, actually, just something that couldn’t wait until Monday when the doc’s office opened — I was in and out in half an hour (that’s what she said). Anyhow, I was admiring my very cute ER […]
Well, in my extreme cat vacuuming cravings, I have to confess that I did upload a new blog style (well, I updated WordPress, so it came with), and I did a live preview. Instead of continuing to vacuum the cat, though, I did indeed write like I was supposed to. Having said that, I’m going […]
This is sheer cat vacuuming, it is. I have nothing else to do other than 10,000 things I need to do to get the books I have in the pipeline out the door. Please tell me to keep my nose in the book. Yeah, I know it’s Christmas, but, hey. It’s just procrastination.
Projects I worked on: Non-fiction book: 1806 words Shelved novel: 9210 words Current novel: 11058 words, oh, and another file that’s got another 626 words. For a total this month of 22700 words. Not nano-worthy, but I’m actually pretty proud of it anyway.
